Visvaldis Asaris: The Environment is a Mirror of the Era

“The environment most precisely describes an era and that which is happening in society,” says artist Visvaldis Asaris, who has produced endless outdoor artworks and graphic designs. His projects have, for many years, been part of the ornamentation of Rīga during national and other holidays. He produced one of the first artworks for the “Sparkling Rīga” festival, and he has also produced many artworks for the festival of spatial objects “The Way through the Christmas Trees”. This year four of his trees are being displayed repeatedly, but there is also a new one. This is the fourth one that Visvaldis Asaris has produced specifically for the festival. This time he is praising stained glass windows that are one of the most beautiful symbols of our capital city.

The Festival “The Way through the Cristmas Trees” starts

Lighting of the “Stained Glass Windows of Rīga” Christmas tree on December 4 will launch the 6th Festival of spatial objects “The Way through the Cristmas Trees”. People are invited to look at 43 outdoor objects produced by professional artists, representatives of creative industries, and students from the Latvian Academy of Art. The objects will surprise viewers with their original ideas and the diversity of materials that have been brought to bear in creating them.
